Getting Started

The team has landed in South Africa. We are so excited to be getting started building the 19th Mosaic house. What an honor! Our travels have taken us through three continents, over three days and have brought us all together for this fabulous adventure.

Today we had a late start at the guest house then made our way to Mosaic. So much has changed in the last year. It was an incredible thing to see! There is a new training center, several new houses, and some new faces. Of course, the old, familiar faces were the best thing we saw all day! More about that later.

Building today allowed all of us to put the motto "be flexible" in place. For some reason, the water in the general area was turned off. No water = no dugga. Without dugga we can't put bricks up. Thankfully the South African crew was able to take large trash cans offsite, fill them with water, and bring them back for dugga making.

I think we made a ton of progress with the short time we had. We have a small group so our efforts are even more impressive (if I do say so myself). More details about our trip and all our thoughts and feelings will be blogged on a daily basis so come back often. For now, I will say that coming back was like coming home. I have found the same peace that I was blessed with last year and I thank God for that! Until tomorrow...

The start of our day - big piles of brick with walls needing to be built

The end of our day - half-built walls. Yay for us!

BONUS: As we were leaving we got to meet some of the neighborhood kids. Quite fun!!
