All in a day's work

Rise and shine!

Day two started off bright and early with breakfast at the Guest House then making our way to the work site. Weather was a bit chilly in the morning but with the hard work and blazing sunshine, it warmed up quickly, as did our muscles as we continued the building of the house.

Today's motto was "speed", with this we worked quickly but diligently to attempt to catch up to where we needed to be with building the house according to schedule. With the water flowing freely today we were able to build up the walls also most to the top and our house it is finally starting to look like a home. Our focus was the internal walls and the African workers did the exterior work. All in all our progress is coming up to speed.

Lauren, Jill and Leah were able to take a quick exercise break and join in on the weekly exercise group run by Carine with the Made by Mosaic ladies. It was great to see the Mosaic ladies out of their usual routine of work, work, work and get to see them having fun and working off some extra calories!

The group was able to end the day playing with some of the children from the Mosaic community who were at the center for their after school activities. While some played soccer, others played with the parachute, and others simply got to say hello and meet new smiling faces.

While today was an exhausting day it was definitely a successful one not only in the building up of the house but also in building relationships with our new friends here in South Africa.  And with that we're off to bed, to rest up for another full day of building!

Until tomorrow...!
